The article Losing face from The Economist print edition ( Nov 6th 2008 ) reflects the negative side about social networks such as Facebook and My Space.
It shows an incident that happened in two airlines, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. First of all, Virgin fired 13 of its cabin crew because they criticized the safety standards and some passengers trough Facebook. On the other hand, British Airways found many lacks of respect to passengers from some employees of the company, also trough Facebook.
Afterwards, British Airways expressed that employees shouldn’t post information about the firm online without permission. In addition, Virgin says that already exist another way where staff can vent their complaints to show its position outside to Facebook.
Finally, this social networks also serve to chat and argue about different aspects and the best way to avoid this situations is prevention.
