This article from The Economist explains how social networks, like My Space or Facebook, could damage the image of a company instead of being an advertising tool.
This is what British Airways and Virgin Atlantic dicovered on October 31st. These airlines fired some people of its staff because they posted on facebook insults and offensive adjectives in relation with passengers, and jokes about the condition of the planes spoiling the company image; although its forbiden for employees to post anything in relation with the company on social networks. Spacialists says that something told online becomes bigger than in any other comunication source.
All these things made companies to pay more attention on what is post on the internet in order to clean it on time, and have more control of his employees to make sure that rules are respected.
