Network 1889

This article, Losing face, Published in “The Economist” print edition on November 6, 2008 states that networks such as Facebook and My space can be a useful marketing tools, but can also be the origin of damaging publicity causing negative effects.
This is what has happened in two well-known airlines (British airways and Virgin Atlantic), where employees have posted derogatory comments about its safety standards and of its passengers. These cause problems in both companies so BA have established a policy that forbids them from posting information about the firm online without authorisation, since attacking them online is a public-relations disaster that cast doubt on whether the two firms have received enough education about how to use internet.
In view of this managers have to control online activity to make sure rules are respected.
